This issue of the Asian Multidisciplinary Research Journal of Economy and Learning (AMJEL), published by Argael Publisher, brings together three articles on how cultural knowledge is documented, interpreted, and protected in North Sumatra. Two articles examine the 1957 Tanjung Katung/Lagu Dua manuscript attributed to the Serdang Malay choreographer Guru Sauti. The first reads it ethnochoreologically as a mnemonic record of movement, and the second treats it as documentary heritage requiring a layered preservation strategy. The third article turns to the rural landscape of Lake Toba and proposes a tourism-zoning framework for Meat Village that keeps tourism growth in line with the village's settlement pattern, farmland, and public lake access. Together, the articles show that heritage endures only when the relationships that give it meaning are preserved alongside the objects and places themselves.
